Copper is built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Last updated August 2026.
You can use Copper without an account. Your ingredient scans and your finished-dish photos are processed and kept on your device. We never sell your data, and we show no ads.
If you create an account, we store your email and a display name to keep your cook book across devices. During onboarding you may add a first name, a city, a photo and food preferences. These stay on your device unless you sign in. That is all.
When you scan your ingredients, the photo is analysed directly on your phone by an on-device model (Google ML Kit). The image never leaves your device and is not uploaded anywhere. Photos of dishes you cooked are saved locally on your phone and are only shared if you choose to share them.
We ask for your location only when you tap “nearest stores”, to open your maps app near you. We do not track you in the background and we do not store your location.
Account data (email, display name, cook book) is stored with Supabase, our hosting and authentication provider, on our behalf. If you sign in with Apple or Google, they handle that sign-in. We use no advertising or tracking networks.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account. This removes your profile and cook book from our servers. Local data is removed when you delete the app.
Copper is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
