How it works

Most recipe apps ask you what you want. Copper answers that question for you — that is the whole idea.

  1. Throw a dart

Aim at a spinning 3D Earth and let go. Wherever it lands is tonight's country.

  2. Pick a dish

Three authentic dishes, chosen for what people really cook there.

  3. Cook it

8 to 12 short steps with times, temperatures and what it should look like.

  4. Keep it

Snap the result and build your own cook book, country by country.

What makes Copper different

No search bar to stare at. The dart picks, you cook.

Recipes that explain

One action per step, with the quantity, the heat and the visual cue.

Cook what you have

Photograph your ingredients and get dishes you can make tonight. Runs on your phone, never uploaded.

Written, not translated

English, Spanish and French, each written by a cook in that language.

Traditional dishes, country by country

Three dishes from each of 196 countries — what they are, how long they take and what to buy.

Frequently asked questions

What is Copper?

Copper is an iPhone app that picks your dinner for you. Spin a 3D Earth, throw a dart, and wherever it lands you get three real dishes from that country, with full step-by-step recipes and a shopping list.

How many recipes are there?

Nearly 600 dishes across 195 countries — three per country, chosen for what people actually cook there rather than what photographs well.

Is Copper free?

Yes. You can use Copper without an account and without paying. Premium unlocks every country and comes with a 7-day free trial.

Do I need an account?

No. Tap "Just show me the map" on the first screen and you are in. An account only exists to keep your cook book if you change phone.

What languages does Copper speak?

English, Spanish and French. Every recipe is written in each language rather than machine-translated, and you can switch language on any screen.

How does the kitchen scanner work?

You photograph the ingredients you already have and Copper suggests dishes you can cook right now. The photo is analysed on your iPhone and never leaves it.

Can I filter for my diet?

Yes — vegetarian, vegan, no pork, no gluten and common allergies. Dishes that clash with your diet are flagged before you start cooking.

What do I need to run Copper?

An iPhone on iOS 16.4 or later. Copper is iPhone-only for now.
