Harees recipe

Ingredients
- 200 g wheat
- 500 g chicken
- 1 unit onion
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1500 ml water
- 50 g ghee
- 1 unit cinnamon
- 3 unit cardamom
How to make Harees
- Soak 300 g of wheat in water for at least 4 hours or overnight to soften the grains.
- In a pot, combine 1 whole chicken, chopped onion, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 2 liters of water.
- Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer for 30 minutes to cook the chicken.
- Add the soaked wheat to the pot and cover it with water, stirring occasionally as it simmers gently for about 2 hours.
- Check that the wheat is very soft; then shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces and mix it back into the pot.
- Carefully stir to combine everything in the pot for even flavor distribution.
- Mix in 2 tablespoons of ghee, along with a pinch of cinnamon and cardamom to taste for added warmth.
- Serve the harees hot, ensuring it is well-combined and garnished if desired.
