How to make Empanadas

  1. In a large bowl, combine 500 g of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 100 g of softened butter.
  2. Mix these ingredients until the texture resembles coarse crumbs, using your fingertips for best results.
  3. Gradually add 200 ml of cold water to the mixture, kneading until it forms a smooth dough.
  4. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to rest.
  5. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté 1 chopped onion and 1 chopped green bell pepper until softened, around 4-5 minutes.
  6. Add 400 g of ground beef to the skillet and cook it until browned, about 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Mix in 100 g of chopped black olives and season the filling with salt to taste.
  8. Let the filling cool slightly before proceeding to the next step.
  9. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3 mm.
  10. Cut circles using a 10 cm diameter cutter from the rolled dough for the empanadas.
  11. Place a spoonful of filling onto each dough circle, fold over, and crimp the edges to seal securely.
  12. Bake the assembled empanadas at 200°C for about 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown.
