Pepperpot recipe
A hearty and flavorful stew perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 900 g beef brisket
- 1000 ml water
- 1 unit onion
- 4 unit garlic
- 2 tbsp thyme
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp hot pepper sauce
- 300 g breadfruit
- 200 g carrots
How to make Pepperpot
- Cut 1 kg of beef brisket into chunks and season with 1 teaspoon of salt. Allow to sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large pot over medium heat, brown the beef chunks for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until nicely browned.
- Add 1 chopped onion, 3 minced garlic cloves, and 2 sprigs of thyme; cook for 3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of allspice and 1 teaspoon of black pepper; stir well to combine. Cook for another minute to develop flavors.
- Pour in 1.5 liters of water and bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a gentle simmer.
- Cover partially and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender.
- Add 300 g of diced breadfruit and 2 chopped carrots; cook for another 15-20 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Serve hot with a side of hot pepper sauce for an extra kick of flavor. Enjoy your dish.
