How to make Banitsa

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, combine 300 g of crumbled feta cheese, 200 g of yogurt, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper until smooth and well blended.
  3. Melt 100 g of butter in a small saucepan over low heat, ensuring it doesn't brown.
  4. Use a brush to coat a 20x30 cm baking dish evenly with some of the melted butter.
  5. Layer 10 sheets of phyllo pastry in the baking dish, brushing melted butter on each sheet as you arrange them.
  6. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the layered phyllo pastry.
  7. Add 5 more sheets of phyllo on top, again brushing melted butter on each sheet as you go.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Let the Banitsa cool for a few minutes, then slice into squares for serving.
  10. Serve warm as a delightful appetizer or snack.
