Feijoada recipe
A hearty Brazilian stew packed with flavor!
Ingredients
- 400 g black beans
- 500 g pork shoulder
- 200 g chorizo sausage
- 300 g beef brisket
- 1 unit onion
- 4 unit garlic
- 2 unit bay leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 unit orange
- 400 g cooked rice
How to make Feijoada
- Soak 400 g of black beans in water overnight until softened, about 8 hours.
- In a large pot, heat 2 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves; sauté until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add 300 g of pork shoulder, 200 g of chorizo sausage, and 300 g of beef brisket; brown the meat for 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soaked beans, 2 bay leaves, 1 tsp of salt, and 1/2 tsp of black pepper; cover with water.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for about 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally until the beans and meat are tender.
- Check the consistency and season if necessary; ensure it's not too dry or soupy.
- Serve hot with cooked rice and garnish with slices of orange.
