Ingredients
- 500 g cassava
- 300 g plantains
- 1000 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
How to make Fufu
- Peel 500 g of cassava and 3 ripe plantains, then chop them into evenly-sized chunks, about 2 inches each.
- In a large pot, boil the cassava and plantain chunks in salted water for about 20 minutes until tender and easily pierced with a fork.
- Once softened, drain the water from the pot and transfer the cassava and plantain chunks to a mixing bowl.
- Mash the cassava and plantains together using a potato masher until they achieve a smooth and consistent texture, free of lumps.
- Knead the mixture by hand for about 5 minutes to create a stretchy consistency, smooth and elastic to the touch.
- Form the fufu into balls or shape it into a mound, then place it neatly in a bowl for serving.
