How to make Casado

  1. Measure and rinse 300 g of white rice under cold water before starting the cooking process.
  2. Cook 300 g of white rice according to package instructions for about 20 minutes until fluffy.
  3. In a pot over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and heat until shimmering, approximately 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add 250 g of chicken breast to the pot and cook for 10 minutes, turning until golden brown on all sides.
  5. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside for resting while you prepare the next steps.
  6. In the same pot, add 400 g of black beans along with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes to heat through.
  7. In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat, then add sliced sweet plantains and fry until caramelized and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Shred 100 g of cabbage and toss it with 3 tablespoons of salsa Lizano in a bowl until evenly coated.
  9. Slice avocado and prepare for serving. Plate a portion of rice, black beans, chicken, caramelized plantains, avocado slices, and cabbage together on a serving plate.
