Trdelník recipe
Delight in the sweet, spiral goodness of trdelník!
Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml milk
- 100 g sugar
- 100 g butter
- 10 g yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 50 g walnuts
- 1 unit egg
How to make Trdelník
- Combine 500 g of all-purpose flour, 100 g of sugar, 10 g of salt, and 10 g of yeast in a mixing bowl until well blended.
- Add 250 ml of warm milk to the dry ingredients, then mix to form a dough and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise at room temperature for 1 hour, until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and cut it into strips about 2 cm wide, then wrap each strip around a wooden stick.
- Brush the wrapped dough with melted butter thoroughly and sprinkle with a mixture of 50 g of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Roast the dough over a medium flame or bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove from heat and let the trdelník cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm, topped with 50 g of crushed walnuts and a dusting of powdered sugar.
