Suaasat recipe
A warming Greenlandic soup with rich flavors.
Ingredients
- 500 g seal meat
- 300 g potatoes
- 200 g carrots
- 1 unit onion
- 1000 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 unit bay leaf
How to make Suaasat
- Cut 500 g of seal meat into small cubes and place them in a large bowl.
- Peel 200 g of potatoes and chop alongside 150 g of carrots and 100 g of onion in uniform pieces.
- In a large pot, add 2 liters of water and bring it to a boil over high heat.
- Add the seal meat, chopped vegetables, 1 tsp of salt, 1/2 tsp of black pepper, and 1 bay leaf to the pot.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the soup simmer for about 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Check the seasoning and adjust salt and pepper as needed before serving.
- Ladle the hot soup into bowls and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
