How to make Plokkfiskur

  1. Prepare the ingredients by boiling 3 medium potatoes in salted water for 15-20 minutes until tender.
  2. Peel the potatoes and mash them well until smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  3. In a pan, melt 50 g of butter over medium heat, then sauté 1 chopped onion until soft, for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add 300 g of cod fillets to the pan, cooking for 5-7 minutes until the fish is opaque.
  5. Break the cooked fish into chunks with a spatula while mixing it in the pan.
  6. Sprinkle in 30 g of flour, mixing well until combined with the fish.
  7. Gradually add 200 ml of milk, stirring until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  8. Combine the mashed potatoes with the fish mixture and season with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
  9. Serve warm in bowls, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
