How to make Knafeh

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt 150 g of butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  3. Mix the melted butter with 250 g of shredded kataifi pastry until evenly coated.
  4. Grease a baking dish with a little melted butter.
  5. Evenly spread half of the kataifi mixture across the bottom of the dish.
  6. Layer 200 g of unsalted cheese evenly over the kataifi base.
  7. Cover the cheese with the remaining kataifi mixture, pressing down gently.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. In a saucepan, combine 250 ml of water and 150 g of sugar.
  10. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then remove from heat.
  11. Stir in 1 tablespoon of rose water before pouring it over the hot knafeh.
