How to make Jireesh

  1. Soak 250 g of jireesh wheat in water for 1 hour until expanded fully.
  2. In a pot, heat 3 tablespoons of ghee over medium heat for about 1 minute.
  3. Chop 1 onion and mince 2 garlic cloves before adding them to the pot.
  4. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until golden for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add 500 g of chicken to the pot; brown the meat on all sides for about 7 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper over the chicken.
  7. Pour in the soaked jireesh along with 4 cups of water, stirring well to combine.
  8. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low.
  9. Cover the pot and simmer until the wheat is tender, about 60 minutes.
  10. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving hot.
