Laap recipe
A vibrant, herbaceous minced meat salad from Laos.
Ingredients
- 400 g minced pork
- 60 ml lime juice
- 30 ml fish sauce
- 30 g fresh mint
- 30 g fresh cilantro
- 3 unit shallots
- 1 tsp chili flakes
- 300 g cooked jasmine rice
How to make Laap
- In a pan over medium heat, add 500 g of minced pork and cook until the meat is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the pork cool slightly for about 5 minutes to avoid overcooking.
- In a separate bowl, mix 60 ml of lime juice, 30 ml of fish sauce, and 1 tsp of chili flakes until well combined.
- Add the cooked pork to the bowl along with 30 g of fresh mint (chopped), 30 g of fresh cilantro (chopped), and 2 shallots (thinly sliced).
- Toss all ingredients together gently until evenly mixed, about 2 minutes.
- Serve the mixture on a plate with 200 g of cooked jasmine rice on the side for a complete dish.
