How to make Khuushuur

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 400 g of all-purpose flour with 200 ml of water to form a dough.
  2. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it's elastic and smooth.
  3. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Finely chop 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic to use in the filling mixture.
  5. In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, garlic, and 500 g of ground beef thoroughly.
  6. Season the mixture with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of black pepper, mixing until evenly seasoned.
  7. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface until thin, about 2 mm thick.
  8. Cut into 10 cm circles using a sharp knife or round cutter.
  9. Place 1 tbsp of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  10. Heat 100 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
  11. Carefully add the dumplings to the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Transfer the fried dumplings to a plate and serve hot with dipping sauce.
