Fihunu mas recipe

Ingredients
- 500 g mackerel
- 60 ml lime juice
- 1 unit onion
- 2 unit green chili
- 200 ml coconut milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 10 unit curry leaves
How to make Fihunu mas
- Clean and fillet the mackerel, then set the fillets aside on a plate.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of lime juice, 1 teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder.
- Finely chop 1 green chili and add to the lime mixture in the bowl, stirring well.
- Marinate the mackerel fillets in this mixture for 15 minutes, turning occasionally to coat evenly.
- In a pan over medium heat, gently heat 200 ml of coconut milk.
- Add 1 sliced onion and a handful of curry leaves to the coconut milk, stirring occasionally.
- Carefully add the marinated mackerel to the pan with the coconut milk mixture.
- Cook for about 10 minutes until the fish is tender and opaque, with the edges slightly bubbling.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the finished dish hot alongside rice or flatbread.
