Ingredients
- 500 g maize flour
- 1000 ml water
- 5 tsp salt
- 50 ml vegetable oil
- 1 unit onion
- 2 unit tomato
- 1 unit green bell pepper
- 400 g chicken
How to make Katapa
- In a pot, bring 500 ml of water to a boil, then add 1 teaspoon of salt, stirring to dissolve.
- Gradually stir in 200 g of maize flour, mixing continuously to form a thick porridge without lumps.
- In a separate pan, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat until shimmering and ready for sautéing.
- Sauté 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped tomato, and 1 diced green bell pepper until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add 300 g of chicken pieces to the sautéed vegetables and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned on all sides.
- Combine the chicken mixture with the maize porridge, stirring well until evenly combined.
- Simmer the combined dish for 15 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional vegetables if desired, on a plate.
