How to make Majboos

  1. Prep 1 kg of chicken by cutting into pieces, and chop 1 onion and 1 tomato, as well as mincing 3 garlic cloves before cooking.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic and diced tomato to the pot; cook for an additional 5 minutes or until fragrant.
  4. Stir in 1 teaspoon of cumin and salt, cooking for 1-2 minutes to enhance the flavors.
  5. Introduce the chicken pieces, stirring for about 10 minutes until browned on all sides.
  6. Pour in 4 cups of water and bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low.
  7. Cover and simmer the chicken for about 30 minutes or until fully cooked and tender.
  8. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
  9. Add 2 cups of basmati rice to the remaining liquid in the pot.
  10. Place the chicken on top of the rice, cover the pot, and cook on low heat for 20 minutes until rice is tender.
  11. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving, ensuring the chicken is well placed on top.
