Majboos recipe

Ingredients
- 400 g basmati rice
- 800 g chicken
- 2 unit onion
- 2 unit tomato
- 4 unit garlic
- 1 unit cinnamon stick
- 4 unit cardamom pods
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 800 ml water
How to make Majboos
- Prep 1 kg of chicken by cutting into pieces, and chop 1 onion and 1 tomato, as well as mincing 3 garlic cloves before cooking.
- In a large pot, heat oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and diced tomato to the pot; cook for an additional 5 minutes or until fragrant.
- Stir in 1 teaspoon of cumin and salt, cooking for 1-2 minutes to enhance the flavors.
- Introduce the chicken pieces, stirring for about 10 minutes until browned on all sides.
- Pour in 4 cups of water and bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low.
- Cover and simmer the chicken for about 30 minutes or until fully cooked and tender.
- Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
- Add 2 cups of basmati rice to the remaining liquid in the pot.
- Place the chicken on top of the rice, cover the pot, and cook on low heat for 20 minutes until rice is tender.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving, ensuring the chicken is well placed on top.
