Pastellón recipe

Ingredients
- 4 unit plantains
- 500 g ground beef
- 1 unit onion
- 1 unit bell pepper
- 2 unit garlic
- 200 ml tomato sauce
- 200 g cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
How to make Pastellón
- Peel and slice 4 plantains lengthwise into halves before beginning preparation.
- Heat 2 cups of olive oil in a pan over medium heat until shimmering and ready for frying.
- Fry the plantain slices for about 5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
- In a large pan, sauté 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped bell pepper, and 3 minced garlic cloves in 2 tablespoons of olive oil until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add 500 g of ground beef to the pan, cooking until browned, stirring frequently for about 8 minutes.
- Mix in 200 g of tomato sauce, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper until evenly combined in the beef mixture.
- In a baking dish, layer the fried plantains, followed by the beef mixture, and top with 200 g of cheese, repeating as needed.
- Top with the remaining plantains and cheese, then bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Let the pastellón cool slightly for 5 minutes after removing it from the oven.
- Slice the pastellón and serve warm, showcasing the layers.
