Ingredients
- 800 g pork ribs
- 2000 ml water
- 6 unit garlic
- 50 g bak kut teh spice mix
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 200 g tofu puffs
- 100 g chinese mushrooms
- 1 unit cilantro
- 300 g rice
How to make Bak kut teh
- Prepare the ingredients: chop 800 g of pork ribs, 4 cloves of garlic, and measure 50 g of bak kut teh spice mix.
- In a pot, bring 2 liters of water to a boil. Add the blanched pork ribs and garlic, then the bak kut teh spice mix.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 1.5 hours, covered, until the pork is tender.
- After 1.5 hours of simmering, stir in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce.
- Add 200 g of tofu puffs and 100 g of Chinese mushrooms to the pot.
- Continue simmering for an additional 15 minutes so all flavors meld together.
- Prepare to serve: while the stew finishes, cook rice according to package instructions.
- Serve the bak kut teh hot, garnished with fresh cilantro, alongside the cooked rice.
