How to make Gurbansak

  1. Chop 1 onion and slice 2 carrots into thin pieces. Measure out 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil and 2 cups of rice.
  2. Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the pot and sauté for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Stir in 500 g of diced lamb and cook for 8-10 minutes, browning on all sides.
  5. Add the sliced carrots to the pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they soften.
  6. Measure 2 cups of rice, 4 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper. Pour into the pot.
  7. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Once cooked, fluff the rice with a fork before serving hot, garnished as desired.
