Ota ika recipe
Fresh and zesty Tongan fish salad bursting with flavor!
Ingredients
- 500 g fresh tuna
- 100 ml lime juice
- 200 ml coconut cream
- 2 unit tomato
- 1 unit cucumber
- 1 unit onion
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
How to make Ota ika
- Dice 300 g of fresh tuna into small cubes, approximately 1 cm in size.
- Finely chop 1 tomato, 1 cucumber, and 1 onion, then add to a mixing bowl.
- Combine the diced tuna, chopped vegetables, 60 ml of lime juice, and 100 ml of coconut cream in the bowl.
- Season the mixture with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of pepper, then stir gently until well mixed.
- Cover the bowl and let the salad marinate in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to enhance the flavors.
- Prepare serving plates with a bed of lettuce leaves or keep it simple on a plate.
- Once marinated, spoon the tuna mixture onto the prepared plates for serving.
- Serve chilled for the best flavor and freshness.
