How to make Palusami

  1. Peel 500 g of taro and chop it into small pieces, about 1 cm.
  2. Finely chop 1 onion and heat a pan with 1 tbsp oil over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the onion for about 3-5 minutes until it becomes translucent and fragrant.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped taro, sautéed onion, 400 ml of coconut milk.
  5. Add 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper; stir well to ensure even seasoning.
  6. Lay out banana leaves on a flat surface for wrapping parcels tightly.
  7. Place the taro mixture in the center of each banana leaf, making a parcel.
  8. Steam the wrapped parcels for about 60 minutes over boiling water until the taro is soft.
  9. Serve warm, allowing the creamy mixture to ooze out when unwrapped.
