How to make Roti

  1. Gather ingredients, measuring out 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 3/4 cup of water.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt until combined evenly.
  3. Gradually add 3/4 cup of water into the mixture while kneading until a smooth, elastic dough forms.
  4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes to relax the gluten.
  5. After resting, divide the dough into 6 equal balls on a clean surface.
  6. Roll each ball out into a flat circle, about 1/4 inch thick, ensuring even thickness.
  7. Heat a pan over medium heat until hot, ensuring it’s evenly heated.
  8. Cook each roti for 1-2 minutes on one side until light brown spots appear.
  9. Flip the roti and cook for another 1-2 minutes on the other side until brown.
  10. Brush both sides of the rotis with a little oil while they are still warm.
  11. Serve warm, stacking the rotis on a plate covered with a cloth.
