Saltah recipe
Savor the rich flavors of traditional Yemeni Saltah!
Ingredients
- 500 g lamb
- 2 unit onion
- 3 unit tomato
- 4 unit garlic
- 1 tbsp coriander
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1000 ml water
- 2 tbsp fenugreek leaves
- 4 unit bread
How to make Saltah
- Prepare 500 g of lamb pieces and heat a pot over medium heat until hot.
- Brown the lamb in the pot, turning occasionally until all sides are nicely seared, about 6-8 minutes.
- Chop 150 g of onion, mince 3 garlic cloves, and prepare 200 g of diced tomatoes; add these to the pot.
- Sauté the onion, garlic, and tomatoes until they soften, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add 10 g of cumin, 10 g of coriander, 5 g of salt, and 5 g of black pepper to the pot; stir for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in 1 liter of water and bring the mixture to a boil; then reduce heat and simmer for about 60 minutes until the lamb is tender.
- Add 10 g of fenugreek leaves to the pot and continue to cook for another 10 minutes to combine flavors.
- Serve the hot saltah with pieces of bread for dipping, allowing everyone to enjoy.
