How to make Fufu

  1. Peel 400 g of cassava and 500 g of plantains, then chop them into evenly sized chunks for cooking.
  2. In a large pot, boil 2 liters of water over high heat, then add the cassava and plantains. Boil for about 20 minutes until soft.
  3. Check if the cassava and plantains are soft by piercing them with a fork; they should be tender and break apart easily.
  4. Drain the water from the boiled cassava and plantains using a colander, ensuring all excess water is removed.
  5. Mash the drained cassava and plantains together in the pot until smooth and creamy, with no lumps remaining in the mixture.
  6. Add 1 teaspoon of salt into the mashed mixture and knead it with your hands until stretchy and well combined.
  7. Shape the fufu into round balls, using your hands to form them evenly.
  8. Serve the fufu warm, either as is or with your favorite soup or sauce.
