Green fig and saltfish recipe
A savory blend of green figs and saltfish delight.
Ingredients
- 800 g green figs
- 400 g saltfish
- 1 unit onion
- 1 unit bell pepper
- 3 unit garlic
- 1 tbsp thyme
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
How to make Green fig and saltfish
- Soak 250 g of saltfish in water overnight to remove excess salt, then drain and flake it.
- In a pot, bring 1 liter of salted water to a boil over high heat.
- Add 300 g of green figs and boil until tender, about 30 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- In a frying pan, heat 30 ml of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
- Sauté the chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, and minced garlic for about 5 minutes until softened.
- Add the soaked and flaked saltfish to the frying pan, mixing well with the sautéed vegetables.
- Next, stir in the boiled green figs, 1 teaspoon of thyme, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.
- Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to heat through.
- Serve hot on a plate, enjoying the flavors of the dish.
