How to make Haleem

  1. Soak 200 g of wheat, 100 g of barley, 100 g of split yellow lentils, and 100 g of chickpeas in water overnight.
  2. In a large pot, heat 3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat and sauté 1 sliced onion until golden brown and soft.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste and 500 g of diced beef; cook until the beef is browned nicely on all sides.
  4. Stir in the soaked grains, then add 2 liters of water, 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  6. Simmer for about 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking at the bottom.
  7. Once cooked, blend the mixture until smooth and creamy, then return to the pot.
  8. Garnish with chopped green chilies and serve hot with various toppings.
