Ting recipe
A hearty dish of maize and beans, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
- 400 g maize meal
- 200 g red kidney beans
- 1000 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 unit onion
- 2 tbsp oil
How to make Ting
- Rinse 250 g of red kidney beans under cold water and soak them in fresh water overnight to soften them.
- In a pot, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat and sauté 1 chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the soaked beans to the pot along with 1 liter of water, and bring to a rolling boil, around 10 minutes.
- Once boiling, stir in 200 g of maize meal and 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover, letting it simmer for approximately 30 minutes.
- Stir occasionally until the mixture thickens to a porridge-like consistency, about 30 minutes.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, then remove from heat.
- Serve warm as a hearty side dish with your favorite meal.
