Ingredients
- 800 g beef steak
- 60 ml olive oil
- 4 unit garlic
- 2 tbsp ginger
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 30 ml lemon juice
- 400 g vegetables for grilling
How to make Nyama choma
- In a bowl, combine 4 tablespoons of olive oil, 3 minced garlic cloves, 20 g grated ginger, 5 g salt, 3 g black pepper, and juice of 1 lemon to create a marinade.
- Marinate 600 g of beef steak in the marinade for at least 1 hour, allowing flavors to penetrate.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, around 200°C (400°F), ensuring it's hot enough for searing.
- Place the marinated beef steak on the grill and cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness.
- Flip the steak once, searing until you see nice grill marks forming.
- During the last 10 minutes of cooking, add sliced vegetables for grilling to the grill, cooking until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove the beef from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes to retain juices.
- Slice the beef into pieces and plate it with the grilled vegetables alongside for serving.
