Ingredients
- 400 g maize flour
- 1200 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
How to make Nsima
- In a large pot, bring 1 liter of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Gradually add 250 g of maize flour while stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
- Reduce the heat to medium and cook the mixture for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens and pulls away from the sides.
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the pot and stir well to combine thoroughly with the mixture.
- Once cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before shaping the nsima.
- Shape the nsima into balls while hot, using wet hands to prevent sticking.
- Serve the nsima warm, ensuring it's fresh and appetizing.
