Garudhiya recipe
A flavorful Maldivian fish soup that's simple to make!
Ingredients
- 600 g fresh fish
- 1200 ml water
- 1 onion
- 10 g ginger
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 lime
How to make Garudhiya
- Clean and cut the fresh fish into 4 equal pieces, setting them aside on a plate.
- Finely chop 1 onion and a piece of ginger, making sure the pieces are uniform.
- In a pot, combine 1 liter of water, the fish pieces, the chopped onion, and chopped ginger.
- Bring the mixture to a vigorous boil over high heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce to a simmer for about 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Add salt to taste and squeeze juice from 1 lime into the pot, stirring briefly.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving.
- Serve the hot soup immediately with rice or bread, garnishing as desired.
