How to make Batar daan

  1. Chop 1 onion, 3 cloves of garlic, and 1 inch of ginger into small pieces to prepare for cooking.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pot over medium heat until shimmering, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the pot and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
  5. Add 500 grams of chicken pieces, cooking and turning occasionally until browned on all sides for about 8 minutes.
  6. Season with 1 teaspoon of turmeric, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper, mixing well.
  7. Pour in 400 milliliters of coconut milk and stir to combine all ingredients.
  8. Simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender, stirring occasionally.
  9. Remove from heat and allow to rest for a few minutes for flavors to meld.
  10. Serve the dish hot in a bowl, with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over.
