Conch fritters recipe
Crispy, savory conch fritters bursting with flavor!
Ingredients
- 300 g conch meat
- 150 g all-purpose flour
- 50 g cornmeal
- 1 onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 2 garlic
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 500 ml oil
How to make Conch fritters
- Finely chop 300 g of conch meat, 1 onion, 1 bell pepper, and 2 cloves of garlic into small pieces.
- In a bowl, combine 150 g of all-purpose flour, 50 g of cornmeal, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.
- Add the chopped conch, onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the dry mixture, stirring until evenly distributed throughout.
- In a separate bowl, beat 1 egg until smooth, then mix it into the batter thoroughly.
- Heat 500 ml of oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 175°C (350°F).
- Using a spoon, carefully drop balls of the mixture into the hot oil one by one.
- Fry the conch fritters for 4-5 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
- Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels before serving.
