Ema datshi recipe
A spicy cheese and chili delight from Bhutan!
Ingredients
- 150 g green chili
- 200 g feta cheese
- 30 g butter
- 200 ml water
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp salt
How to make Ema datshi
- Finely chop 4 green chili peppers and 1 onion, and set aside to prepare the ingredients.
- In a pan, melt 30 g of butter over medium heat for about 1 minute.
- Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the onion is translucent, add the chopped green chili and cook for 2 more minutes, stirring frequently to blend the flavors.
- Pour in 200 ml of water into the pan and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- Add 200 g of feta cheese and stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture becomes creamy, around 3-5 minutes.
- Season with a pinch of salt to taste, mixing it well into the creamy mixture.
- Serve the Ema datshi hot alongside rice, making sure it is in a warm dish.
