How to make Fufu

  1. Peel and cut 500 g of cassava into evenly-sized chunks.
  2. Peel and cut 300 g of plantains into evenly-sized chunks.
  3. In a large pot, combine cassava and plantain chunks with enough salted water to cover, and bring to a boil.
  4. Boil for about 20 minutes over medium heat until the cassava and plantain are tender and easily pierced by a fork.
  5. Drain the cooked cassava and plantains using a colander to remove excess water.
  6. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the cassava and plantains together until smooth and free of lumps.
  7. Knead the mixture in the pot for about 5 minutes until it becomes stretchy and elastic.
  8. Shape the fufu into balls or place in a serving bowl, and serve warm alongside your favorite soup.
