Delicious cheesy dumplings, a true comfort food!
Ingredients
- 400 g all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml milk
- 1 tsp salt
- 200 g grated cheese
- 50 g butter
- 1 onion
How to make Käsknöpfle
- In a mixing bowl, combine 400 g of all-purpose flour, 3 eggs, 200 ml of milk, and 1 tsp of salt.
- Mix the ingredients until smooth without lumps, ensuring a uniform batter.
- Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tbsp of salt; bring to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, using a spaetzle maker, drop spoonfuls of the dough into the water.
- Cook the dumplings until they rise to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
- Carefully remove the risen dumplings using a slotted spoon.
- In a skillet, melt 50 g of butter over medium heat until it foams.
- Add 1 chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked dumplings, 200 g of grated cheese, and sautéed onions.
- Gently mix together until the cheese melts slightly, then serve warm.
