How to make Käsknöpfle

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 400 g of all-purpose flour, 3 eggs, 200 ml of milk, and 1 tsp of salt.
  2. Mix the ingredients until smooth without lumps, ensuring a uniform batter.
  3. Fill a large pot with water and add 1 tbsp of salt; bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Once boiling, using a spaetzle maker, drop spoonfuls of the dough into the water.
  5. Cook the dumplings until they rise to the surface, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Carefully remove the risen dumplings using a slotted spoon.
  7. In a skillet, melt 50 g of butter over medium heat until it foams.
  8. Add 1 chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until golden brown, about 5-6 minutes.
  9. In a large bowl, combine the cooked dumplings, 200 g of grated cheese, and sautéed onions.
  10. Gently mix together until the cheese melts slightly, then serve warm.
