Ota ika recipe
Fresh and zesty raw fish salad from Tuvalu.
Ingredients
- 400 g fresh fish
- 100 ml lime juice
- 200 ml coconut cream
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 onion
- 1 chili pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
How to make Ota ika
- Dice the fresh fish into small cubes, about 2 cm in size for even marinating.
- Finely chop 1 tomato, 1 onion, and 1 chili pepper; set aside for mixing.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced fish with the chopped tomato, onion, and chili pepper.
- Add 200 ml lime juice and 100 ml coconut cream to the mixture.
- Season with 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper; stir gently for even seasoning.
- Mix everything well until all ingredients are coated in lime juice and coconut cream.
- Cover the bowl and let it chill in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to enhance flavors.
- Serve the salad cold in small bowls for a refreshing and vibrant dish.
