Torta frita recipe
Crispy and delicious Uruguayan fried dough treats.
Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 200 ml water
- 10 g salt
- 10 g baking powder
- 500 ml oil
- 30 g sugar
How to make Torta frita
- In a mixing bowl, combine 500 g of all-purpose flour, 2 tsp of baking powder, and 1 tsp of salt.
- Pour in 200 ml of water gradually, mixing until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes at room temperature.
- On a floured surface, roll the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm, then cut into desired shapes.
- In a deep pan, heat 500 ml of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry each piece of dough in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove the fried dough from the oil and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with sugar to taste.
